It’s not easy being human. Advice for Men is a newsletter written and edited by John DeVore, who is secretly writing this About Page copy in the third person. His debut memoir, Theatre Kids, came out in the summer of 2024. It’s about grief, friendship, and jazz hands! He’s written about masculinity for Rolling Stone, Esquire, and The A.V. Club, among others. John was once an editor at Maxim Magazine, which, at one time, long ago, was like The New Yorker for neanderthals.
The essays in Advice for Men are deeply personal. Funny, sad. They cover topics such as mental health, addiction, pop culture, and more. Loneliness. The advice itself is part self-help, part memoir.
The newsletter is free. I will be publishing weekly. How can you support me? You’re doing it now.
Do you have a question you’d like to ask me? You can be anonymous—relationships, ethics, booze, existential quandaries. Anything. Let’s talk. Here’s my email. And in case you haven’t pulled the trigger yet, subscribe, por favor.
